Residents and motorists were thrown into confusion on Tuesday afternoon (9 December 2025) after a Russian national blocked the road in Dusun Pendem Kangin, Pejukutan Village, following a minor injury caused by a falling tree branch during clearing work.
The incident began when heavy equipment operator I Kadek Sukartawan was cutting down a juwet tree on the roadside. At the same moment, the foreign tourist happened to walk past. As the tree fell, one of its branches struck the tourist, causing a minor injury. Instead of stepping aside to receive assistance, the tourist remained seated at the exact location where he fell, refusing to move and effectively blocking the road, resulting in a complete traffic standstill.
Several motorists said they were confused, as the road could not be passed while the tourist continued to sit in the middle of the lane, insisting on waiting for the issue to be resolved at the scene.
Bripda I Kadek Dwi Saputra from Nusa Penida Police responded quickly after receiving the report and immediately conducted on-site handling. Officers carried out intensive mediation between the two parties to defuse the situation, which had grown tense.
Fortunately, after officers provided clarification and guidance, the tourist eventually agreed to settle the matter peacefully and accept medical treatment. He was then escorted to the hospital for further care.
Nusa Penida Police Chief AKP I Ketut Kesuma Jaya, S.H., confirmed that the situation returned to normal following the mediation. “This road-blocking incident caused significant traffic congestion, but we managed to secure the area and both parties agreed to resolve the matter amicably,” he said.
